I've been spurred into posting again when I was unexpectedly zinged by a fictional work. The book is called Good Omens, by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Its a fantastic read, and its really quite funny. Here's the necessary background for this quote: armageddon is rapidly approaching, and an agent of heaven (Aziraphale, an angel) is talking with an agent of hell (Crowley, a demon). Crowley is trying to convince Aziraphale of the dire consequences should heaven win the ultimate battle:

"Listen," said Crowley desperately, "how many musicians do you think your side has got, eh? First grade I mean."

Aziraphale looked taken aback.

"Well, I should think..." he began.

"Two," said Crowley. "Elgar and Liszt. That's all. We've got the rest. Beethoven, Brahms, all the Bachs, Mozart, the lot. Can you imagine eternity with Elgar?"

Aziraphale shut his eyes. "All too easily," he groaned.

I'm gonna say "ouch" for the Elgar family.

In other news, I'm transitioning from the blissful world of the unemployed back to the dreary world of work. The former features sleeping in and lots of top-notch slacking, the latter features cubicles, early mornings, and responsibility. I swear it sounded like a good idea at the time... ;)

I've been told that I "better be funny" in my journal. Now this is a lot of pressure, especially since I believe that most jokes suffer greatly out of context. To that end, I'll finish off with the funniest line from the new Tim Burton movie "Big Fish":

"You see, my mother was banging the milkman..."

Now you have to see the movie to see why thats so funny! How diabolical!
